Malaya - 1939 to 1952 - Coins

Straits Settlements currency was superceded in 1939 by the Malayan Dollar, and new coins and notes were issued by the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya. The coins were exactly the same format as the Straits Settlements issues, with only the wording being different.

No coins were produced during the Japanese occupation, 1942-5. However, a 1943 set was produced, presumably in 1942 prior to the occupation, and presumably withheld until after the liberation of Singapore.

I'm a bit short of examples of Malayan coins. Presumably they are less collectable than Straits Settlements.
